The Hanns Sachs Library at 15 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston holds a valuable collection of historic and contemporary psychoanalytic literature and over 90 bound journals and current periodicals. The collection includes standard psychoanalytic references, biographies and histories, correspondences, Freud's writings, and works on child analysis. Works written by contemporary scholars and clinicians expanding the range of psychoanalytic thought and practice are continually added to the library's holdings. The library owns the PEP (Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing) full-text database of eight major psychoanalytic journals from the early 1930's to 1998 that is available to patrons.
The BPSI Archives housed in the Nemetz Room holds the personal papers, books, photographs, audio and video tapes, and other materials pertaining to the history of the institute and to psychoanalysis in general. Among the Archive collections are the books and papers of Ives Hendrick, Isadore Coriat, Felix and Helene Deutsch, Grete and Edward Bibring, Walter Langer and the Suzanne T. van Amerongen collection of books on child analysis.
